I’m Rasmus, originally from Finland, currently residing and studying in Denmark. My life-journey has taken me to a place where I have finally found myself – where I have realised what I really need to, and what I want to do.
You may say I’m a dreamer, but I would rather call it learning. I’m constantly searching for the reasoning behind everything: behind nature, people, life, and simple everyday things. I’m trying to learn from the things I see and experience. The concept of self-improvement also plays a big role in this – I’m fascinated by the idea that one’s never complete as a person.
The past year has dramatically changed the way I perceive the world. One realisation was needed to make me adopt a vegan lifestyle in April 2015, but since then I’ve learned to be more critical of the way we as humans live on this planet – the way the Earth is abused way beyond the limits of sustainability, just for ‘progress’ and pleasure.
I’m currently studying biotechnology, which might eventually allow me to contribute to ‘saving the world’ by doing research, for example for biofuel industry. However, I’ve come to realise that fossil fuels are not the main villain. It is actually us who create the huge demand for energy and resources, which is indirectly destroying the environment. In fact, our everyday choices make a big impact. Supporting industrial animal agriculture and mass fishing are some of the worst things one can do, but the western culture is still built on these practises.
This leads me to what I’m going to do. I want to spread awareness of the environmental issues and the ways to help preventing them. Conveniently these changes in lifestyle – minimalism and veganism – have made me a lot healthier and given my life more meaning. No real sacrifices have to be made in order to make a difference!
This blog is about chasing a dream and about self-improvement. It’s about minimalism and veganism. I’m also excited to share my thoughts and my pursuit for ‘a digital nomad’ lifestyle. Since it is quite impossible to live without money nowadays, I need to be able to sustain myself economically, in order to really focus on activism and my passions. The dream is to combine making a living by expressing myself to environmental/vegan activism, which, at least for a start, I’m attempting to do completely online – digital nomad style. I might succeed or fail miserably, but that’s what makes this all so exciting.
I thank you for joining me on this journey!
